It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.
Despite the best efforts of the cricketing press, swing still remains a pretty obscure concept for a lot of people to grasp, which hasn’t been helped by a lot of inaccurate and downright misleading articles in the mainstream press during last years ashes. In the aftermath of the Oval ball-tampering debacle Cricinfo have published an article by a NASA scientist who is an expert in cricket ball aerodynamics (why do NASA have one of those?) which explains the 3 different kinds of swing with diagrams and everything.
