Leopard funnies
I’ve been living with Mac OS X 10.5, aka Leopard, for a couple of weeks now and am finding it an irritating combination of shinily lovely and frustratingly annoying. In particular, two things are doing my head in.
- Â Unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t appear to be possible to create Smart Mailboxes based on the Junk Mail mailbox. With the exception of a small whitelist I junk everything sent to revolution34.com email addresses. Under Tiger, I then had a Smart Mailbox that provided a view of just the revolution34.com junk mail. This was useful in that it allowed me to spot when I had forgotten to add a new address to my whitelist. Now, it seems that any Smart Mailbox based on the Junk Mail folder appears empty. I can’t find this reported on the Interwebs anywhere.
- This one has been reported on the apple discussion forums, twice. It seems there’s a bug in iTunes which forgets to remount the CD after getting the CD track names from Gracenote, meaning that the CD basically appears in iTunes, gets the track titles, then disappears. A workaround is to have Disk Utility open at the same time, and just clicking ‘mount’ when the disk unmounts itself. Odd thing is, it doesn’t do it all the time…
